I Thanked God Today
I woke up this morning, slipped my blue jeans on.Took a cup of caffeine out to the deck to watch the dawn.
As the sun peeked o'er the treetops, tears filled up my eyes.
I thanked the Lord above that you are in my life.
I thanked God today, for sending you to me,
You are such a blessing from above.
I thanked God today, I hope that you can see
I am sending to you all my love.
I cooked up some breakfast, brought it to your bed.
Kissed you gently on the cheek, said "wake-up, sleepy-head".
You sat up and smiled at me, as I set up your tray.
I said "my God, you look beautiful today."
I thanked God today, for sending you to me,
You are such a blessing from above.
I thanked God today, I hope that you can see
I am sending to you all my love.
Reality or fantasy, sometimes it's hard to tell.
Dreaming, I am in heaven, I wake up, I'm in hell.
In dreams I'm there with you, awake- a world away.
I wish that you were in my arms, and forever there you'd stay.
I thanked God today, for sending you to me,
You are such a blessing from above.
