People put too much stock into words. They are useful vehicles but pale in comparison to ones actions. It isn't what is said, it's what is done. Therefore, while you don't have the words I bet this other person knows by your actions both current and previous. That is the great thing about coming to know someone, very little even really needs to be said...of course it's nice if someone tells us their feelings once in a while too!
