Sonnet 11

Sit here and write for a while.

Sit here and think for a while.

Sit here and ruminate, cogitate.

Sit here and fidget, fret.

Sit here and channel Robert Lowell.

Sit here and outshine Frank O'Hara.

Sit here and wait. Wait for the words.

Sit here and shame the holy angels.

Sit here and ward off evil spirits.

Sit here and bask in unhindered God-glow.

Sit here and be sustained, be held.

Sit here and enchant the enchantress Muses.

Write to your buddy in Orlando.

Know that the space where you sit is safe.
