Like Lamps Without

In the event of darkness
Will there be oil for lamps

If something unspeakable comes crossing
The bridge from the other world

When everything under the sun must one day be no more
What is it that must count all as belonging to One absolute Now

Lost in the wet and cold rain of evening
Looking for escape, gasping for air

Forgetting words of meaning and purpose
Hungry for anything when nothing appears

Gasping breaths swallow darkness
Burning like lamps without oil
