Ethereal Cities

In a world of materially disenfranchised souls

The Money Mafia worships only the big lie of extorted green

Drunken on gold and silver madness lost in platinum and diamond dreams

Constructing fairy tale bridges over the bodies and bones of lives mistaken

False refinements obverse mirror reveals the crudely godforsaken actual acts

It is not fair it is not fine an accursed edge harsh and unrelenting

Where the humble and the mad pray to their one and many gods

Some in earnest as best may be, so many only for show and not repenting

Eyes are wandering ethereally bodies faint as ghosts

The Money Mafia worships only the big lie of extorted green

Stockpiled burning bricks of night made by calculating fools

Wow! The second poem I have read today on PoetBay that has blown me away with it's poignancy and truth. For me, this poem expresses a heartfelt observation of mine on the cynical realm in which my present reality is abiding. It portrays the awfulness that the Money Mafia have created, and seemingly continue to do so. Deserves accolade in my opinion. So well done. Blessings, Allen
