I was just feeling weird one noght about 3 a.m. so I sat down, started writing and this came out :)

The Long Road Home

The Long Road Home

Driving on a long deserted road I see nothing ahead but the glow of a failing sun
Behind is the evil cold smile for a full moon
There has been no one on the road except for a couple deer that cut in front of me miles ago
The lights of the cities I passed were hours ago
were fading as was the memory of that waitress in the small roadside diner.
Her name was Sara, I think, and she would not let me leave until I finished that last piece of pie.
Then it was back in the car and back on this road.
I saw a sign a while back that said Wolfsbane Road and it said there was a Mc Donald's
But there were no lights at the exit.
Not even a car getting on or getting off.
I guess Sara was right, that piece of pie was going to have to last me.
Behind me in the distance I saw a pair of headlights gaining on me
They must have been doing more than 100 to catch me the way they were.
Suddenly they were beside me.
A group of girls, none more that 19 pulled along side
Their hair blowing and loud laughter coming from their red lips.
One politely smiled and waved as they drove by.
A another dropped her pants and placed her ass on the dirty glass of the rear window
It had been so long since I had talked to anyone.
The stars had been my only company for hours.
I wished they could have stayed beside me
For a while and we could have shouted through the windows
and I would have known there was someone else on this planet.
Suddenly before me lie the spires of the city I had been hoping for.
I pressed on the pedal to speed up
I had to make it there before the sun once again caught up to me
The engine roared and lunged ahead for a mere second only to die.
I guess I really should have gotten gas with that pie.
