Good comment, Ken. Our immortality will be in our writings.
But, back to the poem and how much death we see on TV. I think about it too when I see the policeman shoot bang, a shot on the forehead, right between the eyes and the man is dead on the floor. Such ease of dying that it makes me envious because I wonder about how I will die, and how painful and humiliating it can be. I like that you mentioned "the ritual of death," because you make it sound more dignified. I want to die fast and not be in bed with someone cleaning after me for months or years on end. Yes, that's what I wish for: a fast death, and if I could also ask for a painless death. Good poem.
