This is the final poem in our Solstice series :>o
The imagined illustration shows the Earth and the Sun moving towards the region of the flying ram, who is smiling :>)

Ode to the coming of Spring

A short occurrence sparks thy long advance,
   the tilting of the Earth towards the Sun,
that changing of their subtle little dance
   through sky, from region 10 to region 1;
at 10 the Western thinkers place a goat,
   a sea-goat, with a beard and flapping tail,
      and solemn look within his oblong eyes,
who abdicates to youth, as Homer wrote,
   transporting water, sometimes in a pail,
      and giving way to fish, koi, wondrous wise.

Triumphant bleat shall herald thine approach,
   good Chrysomallus, gold-haired flying ram,
thy sky-way 1 sets springing days abroach,
   the plants, the trees, thy very own new lamb;
behold the crops shall burst from warming earth,
   the Farmer's pleasure in this fresh success
      to see him through the next financial year,
and hear the feathered friends' almighty mirth
   while summoning a mate in dapper dress
      and rousing rivers, woods, and hills with cheer.

So wondrous. You make it all come to life, which of course is what it is all about.
