The club scene gets a bad rap
From folks who misunderstand
The joys of abandonment,
And losing yourself to dance-

Honestly, they can't be blamed
For thinking this, when clearly
Some come out at night only
For oblivion or sex-

So, either for their shut eyes,
Or eyes wide, thus too blurred up,
The club scene gets a bad rap,
Because they misunderstand

The perfect night is one that
Begins with joy and revelry,
And ends with sweet memories,
And can only be achieved

Once or twice a given month
(Here's where the wide eyed check off),
With a brief loss of control
(And here's where the shut eyed bow).

It takes a lot of practice
And mistakes made on the way
Which brings misunderstanding,
Gives the club scene a bad rap.

one trick pony The PoetBay support member heart!
this is a poem that defines the reader. marketa sees the structure while i revel in the images. 'course i love dancing more than life itself (hyperbolically speaking). marketa is a bit of a formalist, and appreciates the latticework.

either way, or both ways, don't misunderstand, the club scene gets a bad rap, but not from us. thanks for the images and the structure.

I like the measure and shape of this poem, a lot.
