for the 4,000 immigrant children sexually abused in the care of the federal government who will never be the same again. wickedness is a dastardly thing. how i wish i could take away all of your pain.

Wicked

The devil always seems to come to the innocence
The defenseless, the beauty and the afraid
For he cares not what you are
And he seeks to hurt those all dismayed
Be careful of the red man I say
For he can come in the day
Just as he can come in the night
Nowhere you are safe, when the wicked hears your screams
He haunts your nightmares and your hopeless, withering dreams.
Wicked is the day as is the night
Beware not of the man that kills the body, but the man that kills the soul.

Evocative and poignant. Readers can feel the anger and sympathy in these lines. Well-written.
