Another Evolutionary Dead End
Those apes crept out of their forests and quickly provedThat they weren't good for much beyond killing each
Other and fouling their nests. They spread across
Continents, breeding like flies, laying waste to all
Other living things. Their obsession with fire
Inflamed the earth, which, in turn, became barren.
The apes fought to survive. The few who did,
Facing starvation, sought to return to their homes
In the trees, but soon discovered that they'd
Become stranded. None of the forests remained.
