thinking about tomorrow

the sparrow is back

building her nest in the v

of the cvs sign across the street

i may run in the park

tomorrow morning   i've been

working from home   and i need out

i feel caged   confined

i love our domesticity   but

prefer it to be self-imposed   four

walls reverberate thoughts

or   i may bake bread   fill the space

with warmth    the aroma of yeast and flour

or   i may watch the sparrow

and enjoy what's at hand   with whom

is at hand   tomorrow may be a nesting kind of day

I like the way you play a sort of "compare and contrast" game with the sparrow. The freedom of sparrow comes in stark contrast with the confinement of the speaker, yet both seem to be "working."
