A Nation of Morons

Look at them, then tell me there are reasons
To be optimistic. Selfish, stupid, easily
Manipulated, hear them howl in anguish.
Someone said they had to wash their hands
And put on masks to slow the progress
Of this plague. They're done with distancing
And home. They want to dance, to drag their
Sagging bellies to their local bars. They want
Their children back in school, not so much
Because they've become convinced
That education matters, but because they'd
Rather have them gone. They'd rather go
To work. The money means more than their
Kids or their own lives. One quickly sees
“The common good” is something that they
Find distasteful, and it is, but worse than
That, they're just too dumb to understand
What they could do to help themselves,
And that is why my vision of the future
Isn't bright.

This hits you right between the eyes, it is shameful, selfish and dangerous the way these "morons" conduct themselves. As Lupidu says, you're saying what we're all thinking, bravo!

Feeling the weight of the discouragement and lack of hope for improvement are what come through for me when reading this, and it's definitely à propos. The astounding display of nonsense lately is really getting to be much... You lay out the portrait as it unfortunately is, and as always, you bring me along with you to see and feel it. And can't say that I disagree... Always enjoy your style, thanks.

Stong and honest words on the reality of the current situation.
It is a sad fact that we have evolved into a very selfish species. Everything revolves around the Me's of this world with no consideration to the "other guy".

Thanks for sharing this with us.

The tragic reality of many nations. We also have "morons" of similar kind here. Well-put, Larry.

You're saying here what we are all thinking.
