Enough is enough

I’m going to stop reading poetry,
It upsets me too much,
My memory is going, I’m not sure where,
I read about meadows, dells and lakes,
And know I must have enjoyed them as well,
But I can’t remember where or when,
I read about being in love,
I think I may have been in love once, or twice,
But I can’t remember with who or when,
Poetry is painful,
It knocks on closed doors and blurs the edges,
I can’t remember where I have been,
Things I have seen,
I had something I wrote published once,
I had forgotten about that,
Can you imagine a world where that happens,
Thankfully tomorrow I would have forgotten again,
I hope so,
I’ve had enough of poetry and memory,
Bye bye.

I hope it's not bye bye, a strong "thinking" piece much enjoyed.
