sun-blessed

sun-blessed, not sure by whom,

likely not Ra nor Helios,

but some, unknown to me, Aztec god,

perhaps Totec, and not for me the sun,

rather, the people of his realm,

while i, by happenstance, bathe in the overflow

of rays. as i often say—lucky me—though,

i might be wise to say it more often, and louder.

work, the hours pass alternately numbly

and productively these days, but at the least

i may bask while at it, at our little backyard table.

it is a good day, though uncertainty

baits ever breath. for now, i am sun-blessed

and that is enough, for i do not do cold well.

I like how you juxtapose the Greek and Aztec images with the simple task of soaking up the sun. Nicely done, Jim. :)
