Go On Without Me

I'm stranded, ice, not inconvenienced,
Charmed, in fact, by images of leafless
Branches glazed, like doughnuts. All
My fingers have gone numb, as usual
This time of year, but, otherwise, I feel
Okay. These colder months must be
Endured, so as to make the warm ones
Welcome. I could join the throngs who
Flee to Florida or Arizona, but I don't.
This place is nicer when they're gone.
A day of ice is less annoying than
My fellows, privileged seniors,
Plodding everywhere.
