the same familiar poem

is somehow different from itself

when it appears in two different books

it reads one way

when it's in the author's own collection

it reads another way

perhaps a fresher way

in an anthology of verse

where you might not expect to see it

where the page might be yellower

or less yellow

where the type-font might be different

and so on

it might even read another way

when you see it online

and of course there's something special

about hearing it as you read it

Certainly context is a powerful filter. Interesting ideas you put forth here Thomas. Got my thinking going.
