I'll Never Do That Again

The editrix of Consternations

rejected my poems, and not

politely, almost as soon as I

clicked "Send" on the email.

Granted, they were subpar.

Granted, she saved me from

the mammoth embarrassment

of seeing bad poems in print.

But still. Abrasive, needlessly.

It is all subjective like any art form and those things work in cliques. Your work is great and you know it, that is all that matters. Selectivity is always governed by cliques. The science homophily.

All one has to do is read carefully, absorbing the music of a poem like this, to realize that, while some of your poems are slight, none is subpar.

Thomas, no matter what the venue or location, gatekeepers such as the one you describe tend towards exclusivity rather than inclusivity. It’s regrettable. Writers like salesmen develop a callous on their forehead from having the door slammed in their faces repeatedly. Cheer up my friend you’ve got us as your fan club what else could you need😜❤️👍!

Consternation: "feelings of anxiety or dismay,"

Perhaps she took her role as disseminator of consternation too literally.
