The Shepherd's Tree

You will know, not with clarity,
Intrinsically actually.

You will feel it, without knowing you are.

The roots of the Shepherd's Tree touch such things,
From the deep, from the great unknown
From places that collide under the soil

The same elements formed your beautiful essence

In a future moment
They will call out into the clean air an unspoken invitation,
That will rock your world

You will fall and fight against the pull and,
As you tumble, wilfully,
The familiar air will not seem as sweet as it once was.
And you,
In your naivety will choose the waters that lift you and carry you along the river, or fill your lungs with danger and cold,

And when you look at your hand as blue as copper in the flame
You will see the dirt under your nails
The scars that glow white
The indent from a wedding ring
And remember, that once, you fought to climb back up
