After Herrick

Whenas in a green blouse
dear Donna sits and smokes,
I make her kind face smile
with all my silly jokes.

We learn a lot about Donna: she favors green, she smokes, she has a kindly face and likes to laugh. Amazing what a few well-chosen words can convey, and the style is fitting.

Now, to read some Herrick. Well done.

One must assume that the "as" got lopped off as part of that relentless streamlining of the language which continues to this day. A modern example would be the way that financiers have ditched the noun, "expenditure" in favor of the nounified verb, "spend."

A delightful pocket poem, Tommo, very much enjoyed :>)
