FOR VETERANS - READ SURVIVERS (Additan)

My grandad Jo survived Gallipoli 1915
Recovered from his wound
In time for The Somme 1916
On the last morning of WW1
Granddad Jo, Fell into a shell crater
Were not found till after last bullet & shell fired off

Pulled out evacuated to a French army hospital loosing half his lung
Took part in battles great and small
Unwritten about holding actions
Survived a number of wiring party's
Trench raids on his and theirs

Granddad Jo a true veteran - the army built
Rebuilt on the likes of Granddad Jo
When his war were finally ended
Granddad Jo, would say ; ' I'm a survivor! '
He'd been a veteran from April 1915
Till the end of WW1

After the end of all that - grandad Jo became a - SURVIVOR!

Your poem is a very nice tribute to your grandfather. My father was a 20-year man in the Air Force and I grew up a military brat on air bases in England, Germany, Nebraska, California, North Carolina and Tennessee. Kids lose a lot of friends when their parents serve in the military, so they sacrifice as well.

I have a Hymn for Fallen Soldiers posted, if you have time to read it.
