we knelt

the strand

below the cliffs

where river and sea meet

courting each other

the bog brown, sea-green billows

and squawking gulls

we walked out to sea

where the seals

on the yellow-grey sand

you stopped

I know not why

and in the setting sun-light

we knelt

as ripples teased our knees

and kissed
