Netta (Syrett) writer largely forgot nowFeminist - Suffragette - Human Rightist
She wrote books with atachude
That challenge the reader to think
Netta wrote for those who read and thought
As they read - and continued thinking after
They had read her book
Netta wrote for all ages fairy story's to books
For those of older age - books with challenging
Strong woman
Netta and one of her sisters personal Freirends of
Oscar Wild - Netta were a lesbian - so had reason
To worry she could end up in Hollaway woman's prison
The then guvernmant who Discrimination ack's of Parliament
Against homosexuals - that were to be enforced till 1967!
Netta, in her some of her books hinted of her sexuality
Netta, writ of self - her life - her fears - hopes - of injustice
Of her - gender - were suffering then - late Victorian times
Right up to her death in 1943 - used the power of her pen & her great mind
Netta, campaigner for woman's rights - human rights!
One of her books - Portrait Of A Rebel - were adapted into a film - A Woman Rebels
Released in 1936 - a film staring Kathrine Hepburn & Herbert Marsha
A great film one to watch!
My home town of Ramsgate, very very few know of our, Netta, and careless
I and a very few others are beating the drum - sounding off about Netta Syrett
Netta born in the town of Ramsgate - nothing around to say that around the town!
Referring to center on Vincent van Gogh - who migrated to Ramsgate town
Staid for three months or maybe 12 - drew one may be two sketches from his
Bedroom window - he recevde an invite to take up another teaching job
So he walkt to Canterbury then on to London - Ramsgate - he soon forgot
Van Gogh died - some would say - his death a career move! Cynical - I concur!
When some found out that Van Gogh, had worked & lived in Ramsgate, some
Have made hay of that - a woman locally is writing a book on van Gogh lived hear
For a few months only!
As like Netta Syrett , were a so so of some one of little note!
Well I think - VERY DIFFERENTLY - of our Netta Syrett!
