To S.

Rather than writing about the moon and stars,
the flowers and bees, the mountains and trees,
I'm going to immortalize you in my verse,
my earnest enemy. My soft poesy will chime
in your mind, for I am a singer of bitter-sweet
memories. My voice will reverberate in your arteries
and veins, its cadence running all the way
to your damp and dark and dreary soul.
No matter the averted glance, the broken smile,
the body reeking of hatred, my words will caress
your existence, smoothing it bit by bit.
Girl with a tombstone heart, bring all
your wrath and disgust and enmity so that my verse
will meet you with all the flowers, the moon, and the stars.

A lot of venom here, but something more as well, the sweet side of bitter?
