How Nice of You to Have Stopped By
I must say that I'm impressed by howYou've taken a day which hadn't been good
And turned it completely to garbage. If
Someone had told me before you arrived
That the rancid hours which I'd been
Enduring were better, by far, than the ones
To come, I'd have laughed. I'd have
Asked them how that could be, given
Inclement weather, recalcitrant children
And pets, and something not right with
The car, but you've proven, by being
The way that you are, that a bad day
Can lengthen, grow harder to bear.
If both of us still are alive until dinner,
I think I'll be doubly impressed.
