daylight   dawn   coincides these morning

with my first cup of tea and the putting away of dishes

we come awake from our respective slumbers   the sun and i

at the same time   a gift of chance

sunrise   pink and blue   baby colors   reminding me

of my room   my rented room in college

which someone had painted those expectant colors

oh   i slept like a baby in those days

when was the last time i slept alone

and i wished i weren't

the tile floor is cold on my bare feet

whose fault is that

i take my tea to the window

what will this day bring beyond fear of omicron

love   happiness   joy

let's hope

MetaPoetics The PoetBay support member heart!
What I like about the poem is the touch of optimism at the end. Despite the looming fear of omicron, the trepidation of being alone, a yearning for days gone by, you conclude the poem with "hope" -- something that we all need in these troubling times. :)

Yes, the tone
the beautiful inviting resting tone.

style and content, texture always there, and that indefinable tone that pleases the inner ear so.
