Why Do I Have to Walk Past These Homeless Wretches?

Does the wrongly beaten dog develop notions
Of injustice? Does the dalit? Do the homeless
People floating on the sea? How about the couple
In their penthouse over Central Park? Do they
Feel they've suffered, too, from social snubs
And crippling taxes? Do they understand that
Others suffer more substantially, and do they
Care? Perhaps they don't. They save their pity
For themselves and shrug. There's no escaping
Fate, which, with its widely ranging outcomes,
May be thought unjust.

suffering is better kept to oneself for not spoiling someone else's life I guess, it's not a currency you might value on the market of feelings but only a manner to be blamed
