Sooo, you read a 5 line write up from a gardening catalogue and take what you need and form it into something.

Thank you G.

I love you.

I said it.

I love the way your name trails decadence on my tongue,
How it traces hungry hollow spaces, devoid of spoils and finds purchase in places voluntarily dumbed down,
Admittedly, by my own stupid clown,
Who toils,
Who swipes through hours and hours,
Days, sometimes it's days,
Of joyless reading, of my own lame volition,
Until I shower and dress, and listen to reason,

Where was I, where ..
Thought stream, redeem

Magenta pink palms on outstretched arms
Reach inside my frazzled mind
Such charms you show, a gentle kind
On a strip of green,
Suffused with goodness,
You bless my patch of suburban stubborn earth,
And show me still your merit and worth,
Is parallel, hardy and keen
And well deserving a crown, my queen.

Say it loud,
say it proud.
I smile at your name,
I'll see you soon,
From May - June,
Performing reliably,
Can't wait to see,
This year, an improvement, bigger than last
When the Summer emerges from its seasonal fast
Gladioli, you are reliably the same
quite simply
My garden's Grand Dame.

A nicely crafted poem capturing the essence of gladioli. I'm glad you found the 5-line write up from the gardening catalogue an inspiration. Bravo!

You've got to love a gladioli, they have a majestic quality about them. Keep reading the catalogue!
