PLAGIARISM TO BE OR NOT TO BE

Sometimes we, I mean I not thee.

Would like to steal

The odd word or verse away.

Some may say

Wish I could write like you,

Sometimes I wish that too.

Isn't that the dream's of avarice,

To be what we want others to see.

Afrodite stathi wrote just a few,

One of her poems in my mind.

Two lines set my thoughts free.

It's six o'clock and I am still a rock,

Swimming in a sea of desperation.

I know I can say this as a friend,

Taken from her poem, DEAD END.

To use it I'd have no hesitation,

I feel like I'm with her drifting in a dream.

Floating in that sea of desperation,

Almost as though I'm cursed,

Traveling round some parallel universe.

There are many others of cause,

But to use some others without permission;

Would be like flogging a dead horse.

This is an interesting poem Alan, one I haven't seen before; being a poem that is also based on a comment of another's work, and I find it works. As to plagiarism; was T S Eliot who said: "talent invents - genius steals"? Or I may be paraphrasing. And he should know as much of his work was taken out of others.

I don't think it is plagiarism but an inspiration to make a new work.I envy-in a good way- your talent in poetry. Some of your works make me laugh, some make me think new thoughts and some create to me feelings i didn't know i have.Giving is the meaning of poetry to me.And you give a lot.
