Mud In The Crack

I can put things aside,

put matters on hold,

find reasons not to do anything

about some things;

tell myself

I've given someone enough chances,

plenty opportunities,

enough to last a lifetime

...and I've stopped thinking

about certain matters

When someone, out of the blue,

tells me to re-engage,

I simply tell myself

that the someone has no overview,

and leave it at that

Studying Chögyam Trungpa

may open a thin crack

in that armour,

but I'm certain I can fill it with mud

At some point the student becomes the teacher becomes the master becomes the student. This poem reminds me of that cycle.

I smiled, ruefully, at your last line. But Buddhism is a gentle practice for the most part, and Chögyam Trungpa actually played in the mud didn't he? ;)
