The Comedian

Here's your president, preening again.
Once a comedian, now he's a tool.  He
Talks about sacrifice, but he's okay
As he hobnobs with silk-suited fascists
And rock stars, saying, as always, that
All that's befallen your neighbors and cities,
The seaports and factories, came because
Monsters attacked from the east, and why
Did they do that?  Because they are savages.
That's what he says and the fascists repeat,
But he'd been warned beforehand.  All he
Had to say was that he wouldn't choose to be
Part of the juggernaut moving to strangle
Those monsters who, otherwise, would have
Been happy to keep to themselves.  Now,
Facing death, you curse him for preening.
Stupid comedian!  He plays the hero
While you cower, dreading your fate.

I like some savage men, not all...they are not tamed by the advertisements
