Baby Boomers

Long ago, when we were young, we petulantly
Called for change.  We marched.  That's not
What we do now.  We shuffle, instead, into
Council chambers, auditoriums, demanding
That the status quo be honored.  We'd like
Lower taxes, more police, more troops,
More prisons.  All the things we once
Thought evil proved to have been good
For us, so, now, we work to keep the young
From forcing things to change.

Insightful and painful, I imagine for those who sit and are the powers to be. Each generation is pristine or irreparably flawed unto itself, and the meeting of the two and even three fills life's grand menagerie. Thanks for sharing. From this first batch of the X-ers, which means, my moulding is predominantly Boomer. A fly involuntarily stuck on the generational wall. LOL.
