in this state of mind



warming my basic fears

at the fire of fever,

cooling my expectations

at the icy mound of years

A brilliant observational poem. I just love 'the icy mound of years'. I remember at forty-five 'coming over all cold' at the realisation I was three quarters of the way to sixty! Now? One year follows another, and the number increments by just one so what the hell!
