Pillars of Rust

Here I go again,
wasting more ink.
Trying to explain,
like you care what I think.

Everything you've said,
I must call into question.
From every "I love you,"
to every feeble projection.

All the things you accused me of,
is what it is that you're made of.
A liar, a cheat, a betrayer of trust,
This spray-painted love over pillars of rust.

Secrets and lies, you keep it alive,
as long as you can before he realizes.
and sees the 'you', naked of truth,
morally bankrupt with a soul that's uncouth.

Regret will follow you on your heels,
when you see you're alone and you miss how it feels.
When I held you in my arms up against my chest,
and it was me you threw away although I loved you the best.

You end it with me for his money and greed,
thrown away love for pockets o' deep.
I realize now that I have no clue,
of who you are, when I never knew you.

You said I was the one, the one who had changed,
when it was your priorities that were rearranged.
Love and loyalty are now a thing of the past,
as you pack your pockets while he taps that ass.

I knew it was up when I heard from my gut,
that you had found another 'what's up.'
And all you had need of was just one 'to do,'
and that was to rid yourself of me and undo.

All the promises and sweet nothings,
that make it worse than just the sting.
Teeth to the bite that took away the fight,
to make love true, as husband and wife.

I like to think that some of the time,
was real enough for a story book rhyme.
But then again, you played well your game,
yet time will tell you that I forgot your name.
