Misnomer
“Dog days,” I say beneath my breath,
Though our poor dog wants none of them.
I've been outside. It's furnace hot. I didn't
Last more than five minutes, even sitting
In the shade, so, now, I've burrowed into
Semi-dark and air conditioning, and wonder
If the better term for these are “gopher days.”
