If you know, you know.
I know this grief you feel.I have hobbled its aching rooms
And poked their damp fires ,
Long after midnight has left.
I have felt grief's potent weight
Each ton of bitter guilt
As it balanced on my head
As I disregarded obligations and demands
I have longed for the imagined future,
Growing with tiny prayerful hands
And small, brave promises of a life yet to be.
And I wince,
Because I know,
And it hurts now, like it did then,
So I know, and I hear you.
Amen.
