Painting with Sound

“Rauschenberg.”  His name crops up,
Though I'm not seeing anything.  I'm
Hearing one of his collages:  Overhead,
A jet is landing.  In the next-door
Neighbor's yard, some portion of his
Brace of daughters squeal around
His swimming pool.  They've got
Top 40 music on.  A loader moves
A pile of dirt.  The whole,
A great cacaphony, reminds me
Of some old collages, but I
Have the painter wrong.  What my
Ears have mashed together seems
More Rosenquist.
