Imitation of Maya Angelou

Canzone to Rock Stars

Take my breath away-
The first time my eyes were laid
on your shirtless chest, leather pants, and
smooth skin, I never knew a man
could look so beautiful? You

took my breath away, and when you sang
with a voice, hoarse yet beautiful,
a bit thorny, but it lulled me to
sing along, and thatís when I knew
Iíd fallen in love with you

took my breath away, and I met another,
a little homelier, with curly hair, but
words that grabbed my heart full five-fingered, so
I fell in love again, and then came
another, another, and all of them

took my breath away, and soon enough
a barrage of men, kissing my ears,
singing acid words with twisted tongues,
and I fell in love. Oh, I fell in love,
over and over again. Until I realized
it was the music; it had always been the music

that took my breath away.

I'm very glad to have read this poem. (And there is a set form called a canzone, which is impossibly hard! --- and 65 lines long. I cherish your canzone as being far more readable!)
