I'm having mango juice with my vodka
Tonight, a nice leg of lamb, which I didn't
Incinerate, Israeli couscous and steamed
Young asparagus, also a sauce which
I made from the juice and the grease
Of the roast, with some capers thrown in.
Eating well is an act of intense satisfaction,
Greater than wealth or a good reputation,
Greater, most days, than a friend or a lover,
But less than success at one's art.

Food is a comfort. And I so wholeheartedly agree with your words in this poetry. At the same time the words remind me of the people who are struggling to afford that comfort. it is a bl**dy tragedy that has no real place in a modern World.

My friend lists eight things which make up a good life. Eating is number one on the list. But I agree with you. Perhaps eating is the fuel that sustains the art.

Must agree there! A satisfying meal is always a comfort and joy.
