Cast Adrift

At about the time one loses his faith
In humanity, the computers go down.
At about the time a democrat wins
An election, the fascists start screaming,
"Fraud!"  The right-to-life preacher
Councils his under-aged nanny to not
Wait to get an abortion.  "Do it tomorrow,"
He says.  "I will pay."  The Chinese
Are warned not to subject the Uyghurs
To things which we did to the natives here.
Cops murder innocents as they fight
Crime, and capitalists whine that inflation
Is raging because workers want a fair
Wage.  Things make no sense when one
Looks at them carefully.  Faith in humanity
Doesn't, I know.  If only computers could
Step in to save us, but, when we most
Need them, they fail.

Machinations of a collective mindset? Failed Babel is one of many thoughts that rise up but it could well be other things as well.
