TO OLD TO ADOPT

I like Christmas day,
The kids went to bed early.
They weren't ours,
We loved them the same
Lost both parents
No one to blame

Twas Christmas Eve,
The house was bare.
Time for me to decorate,
The living room. while
Nobody there.

Balloons and festival decoration's,
Filled the room from floor to ceiling.
The wonderment on their faces,
On that Christmas morn.
As they glanced as never before,
From the ceiling to the floor.

As they looked in shock
Over to the Christmas tree
The little girl asked
Are all the presents
For my brother and me

We couldn't adopt to old
At least that's what I was told
They eventually got adopted
Separately but I still remember
The love we shared under the
Christmas tree.
As we did on many a Christmas
day.
