A Little Justice Done
The news is grim again today,
A mournful hum of routine
Slaughter, people pulled from
Cars and murdered, peaceful
Demonstrators gassed and beaten
Everywhere one looks, on streets
In the United States, in Lima,
All of Myanmar, Iran. The forces
Said to stand for order offer
Violence instead, and, when
They're finished, they can go
Home, knowing that they'll
Never have to answer for
The things they've done.
The story's old. It never ends,
But, then, a glimpse of something
Better. In a mosque in Peshawar
In which police had come to pray,
A bomb goes off, 100 killed,
A little justice done.
