Beatrice on Beatrice

Beatrice: name of a town and a woman,
Who says that she lived there, but lives
Near me now. I asked if she often goes
Back. She said no. Both her parents are
Dead, and the town's rather dismal.
It’s filled full of old people, grain bins,
And churches; no new thoughts
Accepted, no fresh faces seen,
Except for the Mexicans, and they’re
Unwanted, apart from the work that
They do.

Yes. That is a double edged sword isn't it. They are not wanted and yet they are! The same problem exists in the UK with the so called 'boat people' and people from the EU: Not wanted, and yet when they laboured food was more plentiful; and cheaper. A-n-y-w-a-y... nice poem, Lawrence. :) Blessings, Allen
