Hard to halter anger!

To conquer anger has even higher test
of manhood than battle ever knew,
self-restraint has its victory no less
renowned than war. It takes a life-time
of self control to build a man, it
takes barely a few seconds of rage
to wreck him. Shoot, if you must
but without bloodshed, this ancient fury
that alike a pestilence contagious
pollutes whatever it touches and holds,
instigates often inner coup
and fosters a state of sporadic
insurrections. No matter, you
are not anger save short of sheer knowledge
of self, helpless are you to halter a
fitful emotion gone awry.
