Stillness & peace rest

around the cocoon and the pupa;

all vanity of war mongering and greed obvious

in comparison

In that hermitage – sometimes for years -

waits a metamorphosis,

reaching from the larva that went into hiding,

hibernation and the deepest of nature's meditation,

to the most beautiful, angelic fairy,

fluttering up above

on light, delicate, ornamental wings;

a mysterious message

out of the supernovae in the abyss of space;

the wealth of untold power

holding out

in the most brittle of transitory beauty;

the Earth's best thought

lifted on the flickering light
