Cockroach's dilemma
what strives in the dark, a blob with a brain, bones only wrap around void with glinting
bronze exterior, trapped indoors by the summer
screens on the window, rolled into a taunt
cylinder, prowls on all fours like an armed
car with infantile curiosity, in
a corner of the kitchen ceiling
inverted floor where the giant hall seems
to loom upside down above it. It may
be hungry and the aim of all its existence
at this moment is to regain a position
to wing land on the uncovered kitchen
food plate, waylaid by the silver purring.
