INQUISITIVE CHILD

Daddy please tell me,
Only I'm worried can't you see.
You said mummy's in heaven,
Only daddy how did mummy get there?
Mummy forgot her purse.
Did someone else pay her fare?
Daddy I don't mean to fuss,
Did mummy take a taxi or a bus.
Only daddy mummy forgot to pack,
Doesn't that mean mummy's coming back.
I know daddy you said mummy
Doesn't need to take anything to heaven,
But how will mummy get in? Daddy
Mummy forgot her passport!

Ahh, my heart. What a wonderful yet sad poem. You have expressed a child's voice here well

Out of the mouths of children come the unanswered questions. A good poem Alan

Truthfully, in many respects as incomprehensible to an adult let alone a child. Your poem beautifully highlights the innocent thinking of a child who has last a parent. The incredulity of an adult is more about suddenness usually. Great write, Alen

Oh, Alan. So poignant, even heart-rending. But beautifully depicted.
