old poems

i read through
some of
my old poems
today and
its so so good to find
you there
and me
encircled by fire

we stand in embrace
or lie skin to skin
knowing in our bones
that fire keeps us
safe.

I think it is an occupational habit for poets. The people I rediscover/remember when I read my old ones is often a pleasant experience. Especially when there was a positive emotional theme to the poem. I have one where it was nice to see someone 'there' but they passed through the fire, and we were joined together in another dimension.

Love this! I also look through my poems now, making a directory for them, collection by collection, poem by poem. I'm half way through, and already it's about 60 A4 pages. When I'm finished, I will make a prose poem with all the titles.
