Come here and sit before me. Tell me where have you been-about your journey and i will tell you i was there too. Tell me about yourself and i will tell you - I am you.
i am us.

I Hear You

I don’t know
how it happened
that it was decided
who would labour and earn and
who would labour and not earn;
Great minds
have already pondered and
activists have long waged a movement
to get us here,
To this seminar room
where we take a strategic pause
to dwell on
Inclusion, skill development and entrepreneurship
as she speaks her story.

We are here to say we hear you girl.

We hear your indomitable spirit
That cry our gave when you found yourself
in the arena
of not your doing but still confronted with it
Beaten and down
I saw you girl
when you gathered yourself -chin up
and rose
to walk your own path.
One step at a time but forward
nevertheless.
I hear you girl
when you forbade yourself
from taking
two steps backwards.

I was there, dear one
when you pushed yourself
beyond the sphere of familiar and known
into the forked pathways
to tread on the ones
chartered to your inner compass.

I saw you girl,
listening to all
but not giving them the power
to hold you back
reining you in with invisible
threads of belief systems.

I hear you girl,
extricating yourself out of that web
exhausted but unrelenting.

I saw you girl
when you stepped aside
out of your own way
when you realized that
now it is you
holding yourself back.

I love you girl
for now
you speak
in your voice-
to yourself and others.

To read aloud and read softly what one writes sounds so nice.
