Okay; I'll Take Discontent Over Deprivation

The dog and I appear to have reached this conclusion
Separately: it's been an unrewarding day. She hasn't
Risen from her chair or spent much time with open eyes.
I've stirred a little more than she. I pulled apart a shoulder
Roast and got one motorcycle gas, went on from there to
Turn in cards, in other words, jump through the hoops
The fascists have put into place to make it difficult to vote,
And then I paid too much for sauce to pour upon the roast.
When I got home, I wasted hours shopping for another
Smoker, as the one which cooked the roast had done
A lousy job. The sun refused to show its face,
And periodically it rained. It hasn't been the sort day
That I'll be able to remember, but, when I drove home,
I noticed all the houses on the highway less than half a mile
From mine had been destroyed by a tornado I had watched
Drop from the sky, so, though the dog and I are uninspired,
Even out of sorts, I realize our lives could be much worse.

it's a banality, but it's when we are deprived of certain things that we realize that we couldn't live without...

It must have been a harrowing experience,
To drive through the destruction of so many houses.
Not knowing if you're home was still standing.
Pleased you didn't get caught in it Larry.
Regards Alan.
